The season takes place in the fictional town of Banshee, Pennsylvania about 30 years from now. It tells the story of Lucas Hood (Antony Starr), an ex-con who assumes the identity of a murdered sheriff. He's looking for a better life as he tries to find out who killed his lover and stole all his money. He soon discovers that Banshee is no ordinary town and becomes embroiled in its dark secrets as he becomes more involved with its power players. The town's secluded location and the use of supernatural force to solve crimes provides an atmosphere that resembles Twin Peaks. Although Banshee introduces many unusual elements not found in the parent show, it's still firmly rooted in serial crime and mystery. The titular character uses his abilities to explore and uncover the town's secrets, and discovers the startling truth about the murder of his lover. It focuses on the Amish Hood family in the aftermath of the destruction of Banshee. is a five-issue miniseries that was released in September 2017. The miniseries follows Lucas Hood twelve years later after he has settled down with his family to try and live an honest life, but gets caught back up in the criminal underworld after his son disappears while scavenging for parts for an old car. During his search, Hood encounters Reznikov, who mentions that he saw Hood's son. This alarming news prompts Hood to call Carrie and Job, who come to Banshee after some persuasion from Carrie. In May 2018, DC announced that a second five-issue miniseries titled "Banshee Origins", which will be written by Dave White, is scheduled for release in November 2018. The series focuses on Lucas Hood's time in prison before taking on the identity of the recently deceased sheriff. A test screening of the pilot episode was held on April 15, 2012 at Cinemax's Celebration Cinema in New York City. The event included a short introduction by Jonathan Tropper and Antony Starr, as well as a question-and-answer session with both.
